Diabetes, a metabolic disease, is caused by abnormally high sugar levels in the body. It is a condition where the body doesn’t produce or use insulin. Causes of Diabetes:


Type 1

Type 2

When the body doesn’t produce much insulin or the cells are unable to use insulin properly. It is called insulin resistance. It is the most common type of diabetes, which mainly occurs in older people and middle-aged people. It is primarily called adult-onset diabetes.

Gestational :

It usually occurs in pregnancy which develops when women blood sugar levels soar. And the insulin produced by the body becomes inadequate. It extends around the second trimester. But gestational goes away after the pregnancy.

It can be managed by checking the blood glucose level in the test. The treatment depends upon each person’s symptoms. The tests include fasting glucose test, random glucose test, and A1c test. The higher the level of A1c test which measures the average blood glucose level. The more damage it causes to blood cells.

For the patient with type 1 they require regular insulin injection along with oral medications. For the type 2 patients only need oral medications and a healthy lifestyle to manage it.

A management program involves keeping a check on blood sugar levels. Controlling cholesterol and blood glucose levels. Regular screening for other conditions associated with diabetes. Reduce intake of sugary foods and carbohydrate foods. Diabetes eye screening, proper diet, maintaining a good lifestyle.
